David Cook Sings National Anthem
David Cook, recent American Idol Winner, got the honors of singing at the NBA Finals. Course this isn’t the only Idol making noise at the moment. I hear that the “Other David,” David Archuleta has just made a record deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records. So this time the American Idol finalists seem to be making a bit of history. For those that may not know this was not the first time David Cook has sung at a sporting event, he’s sung, “Take Me Out to the Ball Park” for a KC game. He was even dressed in a Royals uniform for the event.
Here he is at the NBA Finals:
As for this appearance he admits that it was a blast but very nerve-wrecking, however probably not as bad as having Simon telling him how awful he sounds.
OK!Magazine states:
“It’s the one song you don’t want to mess up. So I’m going to try to not notice Jack Nicholson sitting in the front row. No matter what I do I don’t have Simon telling me how dreadful it was afterwards.”
Take me Out to the Ball Game:
To both the Davids: Congratulations, you both have some great talent. To all you others out there, remember practice makes perfect.

- An article I wrote before David Cook won American (it’s longer then I usually post)

Well at least he didn’t murder your National Athem like so many before him. Didn’t he get the first line to “Take Me Out to the Ball Park” wrong? Eeek, Simon wouldn’t be happy!
Umm, not that I know of but had kids in the background. Here are the lyrics that American sing:
“Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.”
Now that is not the entire song, it actually begins like this:
Nelly Kelly loved baseball games,
Knew the players, knew all their names,
You could see her there ev’ry day,
Shout “Hurray” when they’d play.
Her boy friend by the name of Joe
Said, “To Coney Isle, dear, let’s go,”
Then Nelly started to fret and pout,
And to him I heard her shout.
